Spontaneous Mystery B3 & B4


This is the finished block B3

(Sorry that this post is delayed I have had problems with blogger not allowing my pictures which are essential to this method)






 Using the Frame fabric form these 3 groups




 Using strip piece section form these 2 groups









 Join together to form this combination


Add next group and frame fabric down the left







Join together to form bottom section





 Complete block B3










This is the the next block B4




Add frame fabric to make these 2 groups, Join together.


Add extra strip pieced section

 Add frame fabric to 3 sides

Join strip pieced sections




Join top half of block together



Using frame fabric and strip pieced section to form these 3 groups







Join the bottom half of the block together


Join the top of the block to the bottom of the block giving completed B4





Color key:

The colors in this pattern DO NOT indicate the colors you should use but rather the size of the final size rectangle to help pattern reading.


1. the frame fabric(FF) and feature fabrics have a consistent color;
Feature fabrics
Frame Fabric (FF) 1 1/2" wide













 
2. the cut size of the rectangle.
Violet 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Yellow   4 1/2"  x 2 1/2"



Blue   3 1/2" x 2  1/2"
Pink      4 1/2 " x 3 1/2"

Olive 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"











Symmetric Mystery Quilt B2




 This is the completed B2 block.

 Piecing block B1- use the pieces in bag B1and some lengths of the frame fabric.

 Add frame fabric to all 4 sides of the feature fabric panel.
 Make the following groups ( the color code is the same as the last block and repeated at the bottom of this post)



add frame fabric to pair of rectangles and then join to proceeding group to form

Sew the framed fabrics together with the other group making sure that the pictures are in the correct orientation
North
West

East
South  

Add the last group together and sew groups together to form

 Place in bags labeled north south east and west.



The colors in the diagrams DO NOT indicate the colors you should use but rather are designed to improve pattern reading.

Blue is 1 1/2" wide frame fabric
Feature fabrics - various sizes
















2. the cut size of the rectangle.
Aqua    4 1/2"  x 2 1/2"
Pink   4 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Yellow 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Beige   3 1/2 " x 2 1.2"


The measurements are the cut size
(for example the aqua 4 1/2" x 2 1/2" will be 4" x 2 " in the final quilt.)

Mystery Spontaneous quilt - Block B1 & B2

I have decided to put the piecing for these two mystery quilts in separate posts to avoid confusion.

The colors in this pattern DO NOT indicate the colors you should use but rather the size of the final size rectangle to help pattern reading.


1. the frame fabric(FF) and feature fabrics have a consistent color;
Feature fabrics
Frame Fabric (FF) 1 1/2" wide













 
2. the cut size of the rectangle.
Violet 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Yellow   4 1/2"  x 2 1/2"



Blue   3 1/2" x 2  1/2"
Pink      4 1/2 " x 3 1/2"

Olive 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"














Spontaneous quilt - Single size

Block B1

 This the finished block B1


Firstly take the Feature fabric and add Frame fabric to the bottom, Left and top.     
Make the following sections of the quilt
Add more rectangles

 Join sections together. Complete the block pictured above.


Block B2

 This is the finished Block
.










     Take Blue-olive size pair and add Frame fabric to the right and top.


Join these 2 strips. Add to previous piece to make ->


    Take Feature fabric and add frame fabric to all sides.

 Join these 2 strips. Add to framed fabric to make


 Join these sections to make top half of block.





 Frame strips on left and bottom. Add single 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" to right to make

 Add 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" square.


                      Make these groups and join together to make


Join there 3 sections to make the bottom half of the block

Join the top to the bottom to complete block.
