This is my introduction to the textile souk in Dubai. The variety of fabrics available is enormous.
We chose to have a stopover Dubai so that we could get some sleep during our flight fron Australia to England. tony chose the Arabian coutyard hotel which is opposite the Dubai museum. By chance this is very close the the textile Souk (traditional shopping mall).
An on line friend Kathy kindly offered to meet us and take us around.
This gave us the confidence to explore the area far more than we would have been able to manage on our own after a long flight. Kathy's assurance that the area is very safe ment we were able to explore down the little alleyways.
The traditional shops have devices on the roof to catch the wind and funnel it down though the buildings.
The traditional shoes are amazing.
The variety of fabrics and cushions was great ..... Iam sure that i could only buy what could be carried as hand luggage kept the shopping list much shorter.
