Dubai Textile Souk

This is my introduction to the textile souk in Dubai. The variety of fabrics available is enormous.

We chose to have a stopover  Dubai so that we could get some sleep during our flight fron Australia to England. tony chose the Arabian coutyard hotel which is opposite the Dubai museum. By chance this is very close the the textile Souk (traditional shopping mall).

An on line friend Kathy kindly offered to meet us and take us around.

This gave us the confidence to explore the area far more than we would have been able to manage on our own after a long flight. Kathy's assurance that the area is very safe ment we were able to explore down the little alleyways.
The traditional shops have devices on the roof to catch the wind and funnel it down though the buildings.
 The traditional shoes are amazing.
The variety of fabrics and cushions was great ..... Iam sure that i could only buy what could be carried as hand luggage kept the shopping list much shorter.

  1. Oh! I've been to Dubai's textile souk too! And the spice souk, the gold souk... it's all quite wonderful isn't it? I hope you found some great bargains.

  2. What a wonderful place for a stopover, and how nice of your cyber friend to meet you in person and take you around. It looks like heaven to me!

  3. I love blogs, how cool is it that we can share your wonderful day. :-)))

  4. What a treat to see your photos! What a wonderful experience! It's so nice that you were able to get out and see things during your stop over. I wonder if you had to pay extra to have the extra time there? What a great day - thanks for sharing! Have a good next flight... : ) June

  5. Many of the promises have not been kept and the lackluster budget didn't allocate much funds to alleviate the woes of the textile industry. Moisture Management Tester

I really enjoy the encouragement I get from feedback. As I am part of the process pledge I love to know if I am giving useful information... looking forward to hearing from you
